Block Island By Bike

 

will share light history and island folklore while leading a group of up to six people around beautiful Block Island. It is approximately two and a half hour scenic tour covers just under nineteen miles over paved, dirt and gravel roads with several stops along the way. We travel at your pace, however this trip is for the semi fit intermediate bike rider. Trips depart daily at 8am and 4pm. Each participant must be a minimum of 16 years old. E-bike riders must be a minimum of 18 with a valid drivers license. Online bookings must be made 10 hours in advance. Please call for shorter notice bookings.

Block Island Maritime Institute

Block Island Maritime Institute (BIMI) offers maritime-related educational programs for children and adults including harbor tours, guest lecturers and features an outdoor aquarium with five tanks filled with local fish and marine life. BIMI’s Cove Room is available for private use for weddings and rehearsal dinners, birthday, anniversary parties and reunions. Hula Charters​

​

The Hula Dog is a 27ft Shamrock with an in-board engine. The vessel has high gunnels with wrap around padding and a spacious back deck. Since its a center console you can cast off the bow and move around the boat freely. Matt also has a flats boat for fly fishing and stalking bass in the shallows.

Come join Captain Matt for an epic day of fishing on Block Island! The water surrounding Block Island is loaded with fish from May though October. You’ll catch many species of fish ranging from giant striped bass and aggressive blue fish to feisty sea bass and vigorous fluke. Block Island is known as the striper capital of the world however we also come upon bonita, false albacore and just south of the island we’ve caught Mahi Mahi, bluefin tuna, and other pelagic species. We also offer tours of the Block Island Wind Farm.

Pond & Beyond Kayak

We are located on the Block Island Maritime Institute (BIMI) property.

Reservations are required, please.

Pond and Beyond offers rentals, tours, and basic instruction via Kayak. Also, upon request, other beyond the pond adventures such as hiking, bird watching, and snorkeling. So come kayak with us on the largely undeveloped 900 acre Great Salt Pond. whether you are a neophyte, expert or somewhere in between there is water waiting for you to enjoy.

 

Daily eco-tours, kid programs, family tours, groups, full moon paddle, sunset paddle, women only. Instruction for beginners. Tour reservations recommended.

Southeast Lighthouse

 

Address: 122 Mohegan Trail, Block Island, RI

Block Island's Southeast Lighthouse is a National Historic Landmark built in 1873. It was moved back from the edge of Mohegan Bluff in 1993. 

Guided Lighthouse Tower Tours are available.

Hours: 10 am to 4 pm daily / Late June thru Labor Day. Weekends only in early Summer and Fall.

Rooster Fishing Charters

Rooster is a classic, custom-built, 36' downeast fishing vessel. Rooster is Coast Guard documented for 6 pack charters as well as licensed for commercial fishing in Rhode Island waters. Rooster is also licensed for tuna and shark fishing on the offshore grounds. It features a spacious cockpit for large parties and has an enclosed head.

Taxi Tour Around the Island

 

Address: Water Street  Come to the Taxi Stand on Water Street by the Ferry Terminal in Old Harbor and engage one of our taxis for a 75 minute trip around the Island. See both lighthouses, Mohegan Bluffs, Rodman's Hollow and more. The drivers will tell you a bit about the Island history on the trip. A GREAT way to be introduced to our beautiful Island.
