Luxury Picnic Set-Up Assistant for set up & breakdown

Do you have an eye for perfection ? Do you love beautiful, luxurious things ? I need some help one day a week which varies for setting up and breaking down luxury beach picnics. www.sandandseaevents.com Set up is usally around 4:00 and breakdown around 8:00 or 9:00 pm depending on the location and timing of events. These picnics are for 2 - 12 guests and take approximately 1 1/2 hours to set up and break down. There is a 3 hour gap between set up and breakdown while guests enjoy their picnic. Also food delivery to picnics may be needed. $30.00 per hour incudes light lifting of pillows, candles, pulling wagon down sandy beach. Sediment is hiring for a few different positions this summer. These are all land positons (you will not be needed on the lobster boat). Please feel free to forward this to any college aged or older friends/family you may have. We do not provide housing. This is our website.

1. Full Time: We are looking for a full time employee this summer from mid-june to the end of Sept to help with our catering events on the island. You must be able to commit to September. This person will become familiar with every aspect of our catering events and at times lead an event while managing support staff. This position is 5-6 evenings per week from around 4pm - 9pm. $26 per hour. You must be able to lift tables and chairs.

2. Freelancer MAINLAND: We are looking to add 2-3 more freelancers to our mainland catering team this year. This gig is flexible - you can decide what events to work. You will be working on the mainland in the South County area. Pay is based on the size/timing of the event that you work. Ideal candidate has service industry experience. The Block Island Chamber of Commerce is recruiting for a Communications Consultant, ideally for late May through mid-October 2026 with the potential for extension into the off-season with reduced level of effort. The compensation is $20/hour for approximately 10-20 hours per week with bonuses for reaching targets for new followers and increased social media account interactions.  The consultant needs to be based on Block Island for the majority (11+ weeks, or at least 165 billed hours) of the contract period.  

The Chamber is not able to provide housing for the consultant. 

Description: The consultant will manage and grow the organization’s social media presence on Instagram and Facebook to increase interactions/engagement and followers, while also increasing, and improving the quality of, social media posts and community interactions.  The consultant will generate new content, including photos and videos of visiting Chamber members’ activities and businesses on the island. In addition to managing social media content, s/hewill support the Chamber’s Summer season events and activities by producing visually pleasing flyers, logos, graphic images for website content, and concise and compelling newsletter articles, press releases, and other short written materials.  The Consultant will meet with the Chamber Director in-person on a weekly basis and keep track of content created and posted, and hours worked. The consultant may work from the Chamber office as needed (likely a few hours a week), but is expected to have the necessary camera, computer hardware and software to independently complete the tasks remotely.

Qualifications sought:

• Experience managing Instagram and/or Facebook accounts, including creating posts, stories, and short videos (professional, academic, volunteer, or personal projects acceptable).

• Ability to create basic visual content, including photos, videos, and simple graphics, using accessible design and editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express, or similar).

• Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, engaging shortform content such as social media captions, promotional copy, newsletter blurbs, and brief press materials.

• Strong organizational skills and reliability, including the ability to track content, engagement, and hours worked using shared spreadsheets and electronic timesheets.

• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with Chamber staff and engaging professionally with local businesses and community members.
