The Block Island Visitor Center, located directly across from the Old Harbor ferry landing (120 Water Street), is a great place to start your visit.  Knowledgeable Tourism Ambassadors are here to assist you in planning your visit, and to answer any questions that you may have. We have information on what is happening around the island and can steer you towards dining, lodging, activities, and tours that meet your needs. We also have island maps, nature trail maps, and Block Island booklets and pamphlets.

The Visitor Center, which is managed by the Block Island Chamber of Commerce with support from the Block Island Tourism Council and the Town of New Shoreham, is open year-round.

HOURS:

  • May through October: Open daily 9a-5p

  • November through April: Open 9:30a -4p week days; weekend and holiday hours vary.

Check for current hours at the bottom of our Home page.

We encourage visitors to download the Block Island App as it contains comprehensive and updated information for all aspects of your Block Island visit.

Lockers: You can purchase a token for daily use of a locker at the Visitor Center. The lockers are located in the same building as the Visitor Center. Each single-use locker is $10; cash or credit card are accepted. Each locker is 22” X 17” X 10”.  Once you have locked your items in a locker, you will have to hold on to the locker key until you are ready to take your items out. You will need to purchase a new token for each time you open and re-lock the locker. The locker room is closed at night, after the last ferry’s departure.

ATM: There is an ATM in the locker room for all visitors to use to withdraw cash.

Public Bathrooms: Two doors down from the Visitor Center, in the same building, are toilets for visitors to use. There are no showers available in this location. The public bathrooms are open from the first ferry’s arrival to the last ferry’s departure each day, except for the Winter months when the bathrooms are closed.
